- smallest thing, it's
- right here in my eye i've
- got a cold cold hand where you
- once were and no more change
- where you're still worth
- a nickle.
-
- there's a dog typing on the sidewalk; she looks up and
- pats me on the head as i crouch low. "Arrow," I say,
- "what are you typing?"
-
- Arrow pulls the sheet from her typewriter and in the bright
- blue glow from the neon storefront, i read of her life as
- once a rich dog. but if she was so rich, where is she now?
- she pants and sniffs my leg, just like yesterday.
-
- i can never pass Arrow again without dropping some change in
- the dog bowl beside her typewriter. "Thanks," she barks,
- and sometimes I envy her fur. the snow is piling cold,
- or maybe it's her words i see, drifts that she remembers
- to us at midnights.
