- :
- : I admit that I don't have any statistics to
- : flash around,
-
- This rather diminishes your credibility.
-
- : but I know many pro-abortionists that are Christian. Do you
- : really think that the whole pro-choice movement is run by atheists?
-
- Of course not, consider RCAR (Religious Coalition for Abortion Rights?) and
- Catholics for Choice.
-
- [snip]
-
- : Understand, that I use the terms pro-abortion and pro-choice synonymously.
- : Perhaps someone could explain the difference to me, but if your fighting
- : for the right for people to have abortions, aren't you pro-abortion?
- : Who cares whether or not you would use that right yourself, if you are
- : pro-abortion-rights, you are pro-abortion.
- : It seems to me that the terms pro-life and pro-choice are merely table
- : dressings, IMHO.
-
- No, Pro-Choice and Pro-Abortion are not the same. I am no more "Pro-Abortion"
- than I am "Pro-Appendectomy". I would never suggest that a person go out and
- have either procedure done on a whim, but I recognize that sometimes the
- procedures are necessary.
-
- :
- : This is definitely one discussion in which I do not wish to get entangled.
- : I thought my first point was self-evident, and was not prepared to
- : defend it with stats.
-
- Any time someone says "most" or "the majority" their assertion may be
- challenged, and the person making the challenge must provide statistics to
- back up the claim. The problem is that too many people think that their
- personal experiences constitute some sort of norm for their country, if not
- the world. Anecdotes have a limited usefulness in an intellectual discussion.
