  16. It depends on what they are breaking up about.  I know of two cases:

  18. The first couple were engaged for about a year and every time they had
  19. a fight, the woman would yank the ring off and throw it at the guy.  Once
  20. he had to stop the car and look for it because she threw it out of a
  21. passenger window!  Every month or so they'd have a spell where they
  22. weren't talking, mad about this or that, and then get back together.  They
  23. didn't set an actual "date" until the woman discovered she was pregnant.
  24. Nine years after their daughter was born, they had a very ugly hateful
  25. divorce.

  27. The second couple were seeing each other for about two years and she
  28. wanted to get married and he didn't.  He wanted so "see the world" from
  29. the "dating" perspective but also wanted the woman to stay in his life
  30. until he was done with his roving.  Well nothing doing, said she.  They
  31. went through a very painful breakup after he started seeing someone else
  32. but little by little kinda slid back into each other's lives.  When they
  33. got back to seeing each other every day, she said "Well?  We make a
  34. commitment or it's goodbye" and it was just about totally over when the
  35. guy realized that NOBODY could take her place (now he knew, see, because
  36. he had gone out with a coupla others) and they lived happily to present.

  38. The second one was the "if you love someone, set them free" bullshit
  39. in action.  The first one was spoiled brat woman with codependent
  40. weasil.  Or something.
