- Heck, no--you just suggest activities that aren't so expensive. Personally,
- (no doubt this will get me branded eternally as a cheapskate) I prefer
- inviting someone over for dinner at my house rather than a restaurant
- anyway--I think it's a better atmosphere for getting to know someone
- (after all, how could I possibly get serious about anyone without finding
- out how she reacted to my books or my Legos?), there are fewer distractions,
- and there's much less worry that you'll end up having to wait hours for a
- table, get terrible service, and end up eating lousy food. Alternatively,
- there are art museums, parks, and lots of other places that are free or
- nearly so.
-
- Indeed, if it made you more comfortable, I think you'd even have a reasonable
- success rate by suggesting something like, "I'd really like to ask you out,
- but I'm a little short on funds at the moment, so would you like to go on
- a picnic with me?"
-
- Trygve (Actually, there are a number of real restaurants where you can
- eat quite well for less than a full meal at McDonald's costs.)
