  13. I posted a penpal-request here two days ago, re a penpal from far
  14. away, at least not the "5th floor of Dunton Tower, Carleton
  15. University, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada".  (It mentioned that I am
  16. chronologically 20 and biologically female.  Everybody seems to have
  17. taken up on these points.)  Thank you to all who responded.  I now
  18. never suffer for lack of new mail.  But I must apologize for not being
  19. able to respond to all of you in person, and I would appreciate it if
  20. no more people sent me mail.  (Yes you are all fascinating people; it
  21. was first-come-first-served.  I regret having deleted the extra dozens
  22. of messages.  But I am very busy with the rest of my life.)

  24. BTW, the group may be interested to know that it does work, to post a
  25. request for a penpal, not a romance or anything else, just an
  26. intellectual and social exchange.  It is also helpful to put a lot of
  27. information about yourself in an original post, so that people can
  28. tell if you will be interesting.  Likewise, those who respond should
  29. talk a lot about themselves in their first message.  I must admit that
  30. people who responded to my message with little or no information about
  31. themselves did not get a response because they did not pique my
  32. interest, right away.
