- There is some dissension about that now. It may be that the Oedipus of legend
- was none other than the Egyptian Pharoah Akhnaton, who was raised by Persians.
- The Persians had an acceptable custom of lusting after one's mother, and this
- may have influenced Akhnaton. The city of Thebes in the legend would not have
- been the Greek city of Thebes but the much more ancient Egyptian city of the
- same name. I know, who in soc.penpals cares :-)
