-
- Two NeXT machines, *and* an Intel (soon to be two) machines,
- all networked together nicely. You would sit here next to
- me during one of our posting phases, cheerily writing away,
- then we could take time out for amusements of various types,
- visits about the metropolis, secret country hideaways (very
- exotic in winter), and homes of distinction where we know
- the people. Not to mention our newly remodelled bar complex
- (I've not been, but it's reported to be every bit as
- deafening as the old one, but with much better smoke
- control). I'm afraid watching me compose posts would be
- exceedingly underwhelming, all those lightning flashes in
- the eyeballs, etc. But really beloved, there's no reason to
- fiddle with dreary old computers, I do it all with an AI
- anyway. Humans are supposed to be having fun, not sitting
- hours at a time in front of the glowing phosphors. Then
- too, there's the locals to divert one; we really do have
- quite remarkable exemplars of a certain milk-fed type around
- here.

-
- Oh doubtless, but I would not want you to catch cold on *my*
- turf, so I'd feel obliged to make sure you were properly
- bundled up, safe and secure and warm, and maybe slightly
- worn out from all that attention, so we could have a wee nap
- together, mid-afternoons.

-
- That Paul Asente, he is *such* a viper! Telling me the
- daffs are dilled already Out Yonder. A plague, a torment,
- that's what he is. Ah, we can get snow and ice here up
- to the last day of May, although the daffodils, crocuses,
- and a few other early bloomers (heh) do manage to be on
- view before then. That's all right, I can see flowers
- anywhere; in Babylon I just stand on the corner to see
- the 24 Divisideros go by.
-
- >Now I wouldn't mind visiting you *there* at all, nosirree
- >bob!
-
- Unsure which Bob you mean (there are confusingly many), I'm
- sure some accomodations could be worked out. I'm sure we'd
- both have such crowded social calendars as to make the head
- spin.
-
- >John, who's wondered before how long he could spend

-
- It's all a matter of delicate adjustments in the Slut
- Factor (tm), I'm sure. I've forgotten most of that.
-
- >(Goddamn, my skull is cold!!!)
-
- Fortunately, it will grow back. In the meantime, Mara's
- advice of a hat seems sensible (but then Mara just about
- always is -- sensible, I mean, not a hat).
