  16. towards gays and lesbians are in part responsible for over 1,300
  17. teen and young adult suicides each year, and that 250,000 to 500,000
  18. gay youths are thrown out of their traditional family home or feel
  19. that they have to escape its abuse each year.  Point out that the
  20. Catholic Church says that one should not discriminate against the
  21. homosexual.  Point out that most of the other (liberal) churches
  22. recognize that the homosexual union is just as loving and caring and
  23. fullfilling as the heterosexual ones.

  25. If the mayor still refuses to reply AND (big AND) if you or someone is
  26. brave enough, confront him at the city council meeting... or at least
  27. make a phone appointment or in-person appointment to talk to him.  If
  28. he still is not accessible at your level of comfort, then write a
  29. letter to the editor.
