  30. Companies have validated DPs in a number of ways.  Some require proof
  31. of finanacial interdependence for six months or a year (by showing
  32. financial records), some (Stanford) require the DPs to sign a legal
  33. statement equivalent to the responsibilities of marriage.  Some simply
  34. require a signed statement.  The more enlightened companies require
  35. nothing, since most companies require no proof of marriage from
  36. married couples and there is no particular history of fraud.

  38. The Stanford legal paper is rather unfair, by the way, since married
  39. couples can have their legal responsibilities waived.

  41. As for addressing the companies that don't have these benefits...
  42. Sigh.  Walter, there are organizations dedicated to nothing but that.
