  19. I remember this thread, very well indeed.  And I also think
  20. soc.motss is safe sapce and supportive.  Perhaps your
  21. standard of judging what's supportive is not the same as
  22. everyone else's.  For example, many people would not
  23. consider it supportive to encourage a person to continue
  24. laboring under the influence of serious delusions.  Many
  25. people would consider it safe to encourage a person to
  26. consider more carefully the paths they choose in this life.

  28. In the given case, based on all past transactions, it's my
  29. impression that Brent Capps is a very nice man.  But the
  30. thing that's bothering him about his body and his self-image
  31. is entirely the fictive product of his interior mental
  32. processes.  There was recently a good article herte on
  33. identity politics, much of which would apply to Brent's
  34. responses to his environment.  It would hardly be supportive
  35. to nourish what is at base a self-limiting ot
  36. self-destructive pattern of thinking.
