  19.      This is one of the OLDEST rubrics under the sun, when it comes to
  20. mismanaging businesses, but hiding behind the concept of being a "scaredy-cat"
  21. == afraid of being the FIRST company to do something that needs to be done!

  31.      Just look at the state of the car/truck/van/jeep industry in the USA verus
  32. the rest of the world.  "As goes GM, so goes the nation".  No wonder this
  33. country has a multi-TRILLION dollar debt problem!  "Hey if Brazil and Peru can
  34. run up a billion dollars of debt a day, why can't we?"

  36.      WHY THE HELL SHOULD I CARE WHAT OTHERS ARE DOING, IF I KNOW WHAT I OUGHT
  37. TO BE DOING?

  39.      If 40 milllion Americans pay only the minimum balance on the charge cards
  40. each month, then how come some people pay their balances in full each month? 
  41. Hey its ONLY 18% interest -- 40 million people can't all be wrong, can they?

  43.      But sometimes, people do rely on what other folks do, instead of sitting
  44. on the proper side of the law.

  46.      55 mile an hour speed limits save lives!  Yet MILLIONS of cars exceed the
  47. speed limit every day of the week.  "What do you mean I was going over the
  48. speed limit--why didn't you pull over those 15 other cars that were also doing
  49. 70 in the 55 zone?"

  51.      "Cause that is the law, and I can only pull over one car at a time"

  53.      Just do it, do the RIGHT thing!  If you really care about EQUAL rights,
  54. then do whatever you can, to make sure that EQUAL means EQUAL! (and put the
  55. quotes from ANIMAL FARM out to the pasture)

  57.      Remember, the policies, handbooks, regulations, laws and court cases that
  58. we are all discussing were NOT suddenly appearing on our desks out of the blue. 
  59. They were all written BY PEOPLE, and therefore they can be CHANGED by people
  60. who want them changed!

  62.      Slavery was legal in many parts of the world, even though it was 
  63. considered immoral by some, while at the same time, other people argued that 
  64. it was an economic necessity, and by-passed the ETHICAL and HUMAN aspects 
  65. of slavery.

  67.      That doesn't mean that you have to survey what your competitor's policy
  68. is regarding slavery before addressing it in YOUR corporate policy statement.

  70.      Your company can extend EQUAL benefits if IT WANTS TO.
