- I must say, rahly I must, that I had picked up a copy of Vanity
- Fair by mistake. It had this blonde bimbette in a rather gaudy
- gown, with hideously fake make-up washed all over her face (and
- *this* woman is supposed to replace Grace Kelly? Please...) -
- I thought it was Vogue. And typically, I pick up a copy of Vogue
- when I'm about to grab a bite to eat (unless it's the kind that
- bites back...), so I can thumb through and look at the pretty
- pictures and not be bothered with any actual content.
-
- But, as I've already mentioned, I picked up Vanity Fair instead.
-
- I must say, if this issue is typical - fuck the New Yorker. VF
- is the best magazine in the English language. Articles: Murder
- of Petra Kelly; murder of the Romanov czars; rise and fall of
- Hollwood super-agents; Ivan Boesky in exile; German super-model
- wannabe Princess Grace - AND....
-
-
- Marky Mark.
-
- In the best picture I have ever seen of him. Marky fans should
- buy this magazine for that shot alone (Marky in a white robe,
- cute little baseball cap, sitting on a white bed with chest
- exposed. The baseball cap is black, and a black lab is also
- on the bed. Shades of Madonna? - who was it that said Marky was
- releasing his own SEX book?).
-
- There is also an interview - which is completely out-of-place
- with the rest of the articles - in which Marky answers the
- question: Marky Mark is a bisexual... False. He also gives
- his schpeil on how it's cool and all if gay men are into him,
- and if he's the poster-boy of the gay community. Then the
- interviewer asks him to get down and give him fifty push-ups.
-
- A pity THAT wasn't photographed.
-
- *X*
- (to be fair to the New Yorker - it's great if one's literary
- tastes are to the artsy-fartsy; or, if one is actually interested
- in what goes on in the Big Apple - which I, living in the cultural
- center of North America (Ithaca, Pittsburg, and NY be damned...),
- am not)
