  29. Fair question, of course.  Not to excuse anything, however,
  30. but only to point out that those who are finding such
  31. vociferous (and I think mostly nugatory) fault are ignoring
  32. some relevant issues of proportion.  As I've been at some
  33. pains to point out, I'm in no position to criticize
  34. Dworkin's writing directly, as I've not read it.  But as
  35. Arne points out, the systemic oppression of women in our
  36. society is one thing and man-hating is another, I maintain
  37. quite a smaller, thing.  This excuses neither, but if men
  38. are going to try to render Dworkin such a demon, then to be
  39. at all credible, they are going to have to move heaven and
  40. earth in an effort to rectify women's inequities, in the
  41. process impeaching largely themselves, which they are
  42. singularly loath to do.
