  29. I want to see this Effort At Housecleaning continue with momentum, so
  30. I'd like to suggest the following:
  31.  
  32. For a period of TWO weeks (starting today and ending Jan 22, 1993) send
  33. your proposals for a new hierarchy to replace what is currently
  34. soc.motss to me (exukev@exu.ericsson.se), outlining the following:
  35.  
  36. - Your suggested "root" hierachy name (soc.motss, soc.lesbigay, 
  37.   soc.queer, etc.)
  38.  
  39. - The full name of each proposed sub-group in the new hierarchy
  40.  
  41. - The type of discussions to be conducted in each sub-group
  42.  
  43. - Whether each subgroup is to be moderated, un-moderated, 
  44.   or auto-moderated to remove cross-postings
  45.  
  46. - A short description/rationale/defense of the hierarchy
  47.   naming scheme you propose.
  48.  
  49. - If you want your name removed from the proposal suggestion (to
  50.   preserve muffinhood/anonymity), then please state such in your
  51.   proposal message.  It will be honored.
  52.  
  53. Your proposal WILL be acknowledged when received.  If you don't get an
  54. acknowledgement (taking into account that I am taking off 12/24-12/27
  55. and 12/31-1/3), then resubmit your proposal.
  56.  
  57. You may submit more than one proposal - if you have several good ideas
  58. at a new hierarchy.
  59.  
  60. At the end of the proposal collection period, I will compile a summary
  61. message(s) listing ALL of the submitted proposals, in their entirety,
  62. along with an identifying Proposal Number (used for the voting process).
  63. These proposal summary posts will be repeated several times to make sure
  64. everyone gets a chance to see them.
  65.  
  66. If you want soc.motss to remain unchanged, then a proposal should be
  67. sent along those lines with your reasoning.  Only submitted proposals
  68. (proposals mailed to me - I will *not* collect proposals from soc.motss
  69. or news.groups or anyplace other than my mail) will be included in the
  70. proposal summary posts.  Only proposals listed in the Proposal Summary
  71. post will be accepted for voting purposes.

  73. I will also begin collecting votes from the soc.motss readership on
  74. the following items:
  75.  
  76.   - The "root" hierarchy name (soc.motss, soc.lesbigay, soc.queer,
  77.     etc)
  78.  
  79.   - The sub-group hierachy proposal which is best/most-popular.

  81. Only one vote per person (your last vote, if you cast multiple votes,
  82. will be the deciding vote).  Details and format of the voting "form" and
  83. net-address to which the voting form should be sent will be posted with
  84. the proposal summary posts.

  86. At the end of the voting period, I will post the results of the vote,
  87. and the necessary Call For Discussion posts can be distributed
  88. throughout the known net.world.

  90. The proposal posts should NOT be cross-posted to anyplace outside of the
  91. soc.motss newsgroup - we don't need a lot of outside noise on this
  92. portion of the discussion - we'll get plenty of that when the Call For
  93. Discussion message is sent out.
