- Sorry to interrupt the general flow, but I just got done writing Mara
- about what I was going to do new years' eve and I thought it'd fit to
- tell the rest of y'all about it too.
-
- It's not that big a deal; I'm just going to go to a party for people
- on a local BBS, then to a rave. Noone at the party will know me face-
- to-face, as I've only been on it for about a month and haven't had a
- chance to meet anyone (though I've gotten some good flirting in, of
- course), and the rave will be jam-packed with a mixed crowd of people
- I've never met. But I figure I'll have a good time.
-
- When I was telling Mara about this, I realized that this new year's
- eve will be the first one that I'll spend autonomously. In the past,
- I've rung in the new year either with my friends from high school
- (back when my choice of friends was not out of a wide selection, but
- out of the sheer need for someone else to be around), with a good
- friend and people that I knew through them, or with people I kinda
- knew and their friends. I basically tagged along with other people,
- not feeling close to most of the people there and not really feeling
- comfortable that way. But this year, I'll be with people I've found
- on my own, without having someone guide me to them and without a hand
- to cling to to make the experience easier. And what's more, I won't
- *need* a hand to cling to; If anything, I'll be *providing* a hand to
- cling to if I decide to bring Keri to the rave. It's exciting, in a
- mellow kind of way.
-
- Thanks.
