  23. though where it's perfectly appropriate to
  24. kill the masseur for bearing bad massages.

  26. Or masseuse.  Now, I'm generally one for genderless
  27. nouns, &c. [you *do* know why it's written like
  28. that, yes?], although I have trouble with the loss
  29. of number information in 'their' and would like to
  30. see nice, new, genderless third-person pronoun, but
  31. there are a couple of very nice words I'd like to
  32. see stay around, although they could be redefined
  33. for all I care--I just like their sound.  One
  34. is 'masseuse'.

  36. The other is 'aviatrix'.  Such a delicious word.
  37. There's [not his!] a rather silly mystery novel
  38. by Michael Innes [one of my favorite authors in
  39. the genre, and I'll admit that saying this one's
  40. silly is redundant] which seemed to be perpetrated
  41. entirely as an excuse to use the word 'aviatrix'.

  45. Burgess wrote _Earthly Powers_ simply as an
  46. excuse to use the word 'quincunx'.
