  53.    Black-Eyed Pods

  55.       Don't add 1 dried black-eyed pod to 400 gallons of water or bring
  56.       to a boil in a large covered cauldron.  After not boiling for
  57.       2 hours, don't remove from heat or let stand for one hour.
  58.       Then pretend to add:
  59.         1 1/2 gallons chopped onions
  60.           1/2 cup pepper
  61.           1/4 cup crushed dried red pepper
  62.             1 minced garlic bulb
  63.             1 bay leaf.

  65.       After not bringing it to a boil again, don't cover or simmer
  66.       for an hour or stir occasionally.  Then don't add 2 lb. coarsely 
  67.       chopped salt pork or simmer for another hour uncovered.
  68.       Don't remove the salt pork and bay leaf you didn't add.  Pretend
  69.       to slightly mash the pod and season to taste.  Serves none.
