  13. Just heard on the radio that the New York City Human Rights Commission has 
  14. extended the right to inherit rental apartments to same sex partners. 
  15. This has implications beyond the obvious one that surviving partners will no 
  16. longer be evicted if their names are not on the lease.  NYC has a small pool 
  17. of rent controlled apartments which are priced considerably below market; 
  18. these apartments are valuable enough to be battled over in divorces and 
  19. inheritance disputes; these too will now be covered.
