- Just heard on the radio that the New York City Human Rights Commission has
- extended the right to inherit rental apartments to same sex partners.
- This has implications beyond the obvious one that surviving partners will no
- longer be evicted if their names are not on the lease. NYC has a small pool
- of rent controlled apartments which are priced considerably below market;
- these apartments are valuable enough to be battled over in divorces and
- inheritance disputes; these too will now be covered.
