- Here's some books to add to the list.
-
- Non-fiction
-
- Ryan White: My Own Story. Although not gay himself, Ryan was a victim
- of homophobia and received support and friendship from members of our
- community. A story of great courage, it seems to reflect a realistic
- image of this young man.
-
- Reflections of a Rock Lobster by Aaron Fricke. Another early hero of
- our movement tells of his coming out and fight to go to the prom with
- his male friend. (Sudden Strangers, is a more recent book written by
- Aaron and his father, and in a very personal way documents the
- struggle these two had in accepting Aarons lifestyle.)
-
- One Teenager in Ten (Heron) A book written by and for gay youth, and
- Young, Gay & Proud: both timeless classics.
-
- Fiction
-
- Dance of the Warriors by Kevin Esser. Science fiction wherein gay
- youth fight the evil religious fanatics for the right to live and
- love as they wish. I love most of what Kevin writes. Many of his
- short stories in the Acolyte Readers are among the best. (Also,
- the stories by gay youth Luis Fuentes which appear in the Readers
- are especially HOT!)
-
- Kite Music (Shellhart) When a man falls in love with a boy in a
- different culture he is pleasantly surprised when the relationship
- is valued for it's beauty and not condemned as it would be in the
- west.
-
- Growing Old Disgracefully (Dukahz). Although not as wonderful as
- his earlier works (Asbestos Diary & Visa Versa) the erotic diaries
- of this classic "dirty old man" has delighted his fans for years.
-
- Other recommendations available upon request.
