  25. men and women and used that rage to attack men on the
  26. basis on sex itself.  When a woman is penetrated by
  27. a man, according to Dworkin, she's being "invaded" and
  28. "enslaved".  Women who might enjoy penetration are 
  29. delusional -- or, to use Dworkin's word, "collaborators".
  30. Her rhetoric would be dismissable as absurd were it
  31. not for the fact that it's offensive.  Offensive to
  32. men since she claims we're all rapists bent on wiping
  33. women off the face of the earth.  (She writes quite
  34. baldly in _Intercourse_ that penile-vaginal intercourse
  35. is *genocidal*.)  Offensive to women, because she
  36. claims that no woman can *really* enjoy sex with a
  37. man who's bent on penetrating her body.  And really,
  38. what is her problem with human biology?  And, need I
  39. point out, her equating men with Nazis and women
  40. with Jews in Auschwitz is *deeply* offensive to anyone
  41. with even a half-developed sense of morality.

  65. Melinda, I *am* a minority in this culture.  I don't think
  66. a week has passed since I was about 13 when I haven't been
  67. called "a cocksucking faggot" or whatever on the street.
  68. Occasionally (every 6 months or so, perhaps), people will
  69. throw things at me from passing cars.  I've been menaced
  70. on the street more times than I can count.  I know what it's 
  71. like to live as the object of that kind of hate, day in and 
  72. day out.  Dworkin does not help me understand how my
  73. experience with this kind of mindless hatred might parallel
  74. a woman's.  Add to that the fact that she's expressed 
  75. homophobic sentiments, too, and I can only repeat that
  76. I think she has nothing valuable to say.
