  17. Depends on how bursty your feed is.  On agora sometimes the feed gets
  18. blocked upstream, and we'll go a few days with nothing, zilch.  Then
  19. the dam breaks and we will literally have over a thousand
  20. messages to deal with in soc.motss.  One time I was behind by *4000*
  21. messages and just had to mark them all read.  At the moment Alan has
  22. the expiration set to two days to keep agora from being overwhelmed by
  23. a week's worth of blocked news that was headed down the feed in
  24. our direction.  Right now I'm *only* 400 messages behind, but only
  25. because the older messages were expired before I had a chance to
  26. read them.

  28. Anyway, for the record I like the idea of an automated delete-o-clayton/
  29. crosspost filter, and the newsgroup should be split.  I do not like 
  30. changing the name from motss to lesbigay or queer.  I see no reason 
  31. to give the 'phobes any assistance in finding us -- try reading a.p.h 
  32. for a while to see what that will turn into.  True, some people just 
  33. coming out may have to hunt for us for a while, but sooner or later 
  34. somebody they know will clue them in.
