  12. i remember being bored one day and looking through the list of
  13. newsgroups.  i subscribed to all the groups that i was curious
  14. or interested about, not to squeamish about, or just did not understand.
  15. so i joined things like rec.games.go, rec.art.poems, 
  16. soc.religion.christian, and other relatively 'tame' groups; the
  17. previous groups falling under curious or not to squeamish.  i subscribed 
  18. to soc.motss 'cuz i couldn't fathom what it could be about.
  19. had i known at the time soc.motss would have fallen under 'too
  20. squeamish', and i wouldn't have subscribed.

  22. now at the time i was trying to be a devout 'fundie' (but i got
  23. over that after a little time).  so after reading the first few
  24. articles i unsubscribed in shock and disgust.  at this time i wasn't
  25. even out to myself.  over the course of a few months i subscribed
  26. and unsubscribed.  at first i was afraid someone would see me
  27. reading soc.motss, and then i came up with an 'excuse'; "i didn't
  28. know what motss meant."  (i look back at that time and the utter
  29. self-loathing makes me angry.)

  31. after some soul searching and a little help from a friend, i finally
  32. came out to myself.  reading soc.motss had given me the needed insight, 
  33. despite all the 'fundie' crap i grew up with, that being homosexual
  34. was not 'sinful' or 'evil'.  thanks folks.  *hug*
  35.  
  36. that's how i first found soc.motss.  though to be honest i never
  37. followed more than four articles before unsubscribing again
  38. until i came out.  so i didn't find out the really neat things
  39. about soc.motss (the non existent 'cabal', big red pumps, etc ;)
  40. until i started reading regularly.
