    I knew of the existence of soc.motss even before I had access to
    Usenet.  My friends told me about it.  I first read it on chinet,
    the oldest public access Unix system in the Chicagoland area.

    Later, when I set up vpnet, I tried to figure a way to get soc.motss
    so I could read it on my own machine.  That finally happened when
    we bought a bbs type front end shell called akcs.  Now vpnet is the
    second oldest public access Unix system in the area and we have a
    full news feed.  I read a number of newsgroups besides soc.motss, but
    motss was the first newsgroup I put on here and, although I don't
    often post, I never miss reading it.
