  25. Douglas Wilson in question, yet felt qualified to reorder the excerpts to
  26. substantiate the position that the Brodie thesis of a long term, happy
  27. affair between Jefferson and Hemings is still plausible.

  29. Let's see, I'm a fool for demanding (got it right this time) that rath
  30. provide references to substantiate his/her belief that the Brodie thesis is 
  31. alive and well, and not relegated to the ash heap of history.

  33. Let's see, I'm a fool for asking (heh, demanding is more like it) that rath
  34. submit his/her own portfolio as to why his/her opinion should be taken at
  35. face value since no refences have been provided.

  38. publically insulted.  Instead Mr. Hewitt thinks I should skulk away to e-mail 
  39. and leave rath's final words as lasting impressions before this esteemed
  40. forum.  Sorry, but I don't let my candidates do that when they run for office,

  45. And while Mr. Hewitt may wish to see this thread on a higher level, I would
  46. remind him that is exactly how it started off.  It was a simple post of
  47. excerpts fully referenced to the source periodical and without any
  48. editorial comment by myself.  And yet I am the one admonished and called fool 
  49. by a so much more thoughtful person than I, while nothing is said about
  50. raths actions after he/she
  51.  
  52.     1.    commented on
  53.     2.    reordered expressly to change intent
  54.     3.    and questioned the entire thesis without evidence
  55.  
  56. of an article he/she never read.  If "lowering" this thread means calling
  57. for rath to read an article before editorializing it, substantiating with
  58. references his/her own/Brodie theory, or at minimal providing evidence of
  59. his/her scholarly position, I think it a lowering we could use more of.
