  12. I've always thought of these things (since I'm not much mathematical)
  13. as geometry - three people is a triangle, where each edge and the
  14. whole surface is a particular relationship.  You can add a line through
  15. the centroid to the other edge that describes the specific 'this person
  16. with that couple' relationship if you want.

  18. Even more fun is to consider a quad as a tetrahedron, and watch your
  19. brain melt.

  21. Then there's the argument about how much it helps if the triangle is
  22. equilateral, or if isoceles triangles are inherently unstable,
  23. wether 'very married' couples should be represented (in larger
  24. complexes of relationships) as points, and how to colour code things
  25. to describe the nature of the relationships.  (varying from languished
  26. lute playing to utter carnality, I suppose.)
