- If I may follow up Stella's nifty posting with a little tiny instance of
- tactical advice; the word 'feminist' tends to make most men defensive.
-
- Well, to 'fess up for the first time, I've always considered myself a
- feminist, but I'd never (present exception excluded) say so in public
- because 1) women tend to get ratty about it and 2) I'm no more feminist than
- I'm masculinist. I really consider myself a humanist, and identify with
- the goals of feminism as far as they can be applied to both sexes: equal rights,
- equal opportunity, fewer inappropriate gender roles being foisted on either
- sex. Although I believe I act day to day in accordance with my principles,
- I'm slightly wary of men who call themselves feminists - when *I* can
- observe that they often act like classic MCPs - but I'm *very* wary of women
- who describe themselves as feminists - when I observe *them* acting as
- classic FCSs.
