  19.    I attended a recent dungeon S/M party where, out of 200 people,
  20. about 30 were usenet people.  Of course, I *brought* seven of them, so
  21. I guess that sorta unbalanced the odds a little.  "Sternberg, party of
  22. eight for The Gold Room, this way please..."

  24.    One of the people I was with was a rather famous flamewarrior who
  25. has asked me not to name him.  But it was rather interesting as a woman
  26. approached us and said "I heard you two talking about the 'net.  Do you
  27. post a lot?"  He introduced himself and she backed away, saying only
  28. "Oh."  Then I introduced myself and she said "You're ELF?  You write
  29. the best stories!"  *Blush, shucks, t'weren't nothin.*

  31.    Other reactions I've had have included "You know, I expected you to
  32. look a lot different."  When I asked what she had expected, she said
  33. "The cover of Aqualung."

  35.    I dunno; do I come across as the sort of person who "[sits] on a
  36. park bench eyeing little girls with bad intent?"

  38.    The other reaction I had, for which I was rather angry with myself,
  39. occured when a gorgeous young woman stopped me and said "Can I talk to
  40. you about your stories?"  I said "Later, I'm on my way to a scene."
  41. When I got into the sling room, the first thing out of my mouth was
  42. "Fans!" in this exasperated tone.  Oh, well.  I'll learn.
