-
- Legally, perhaps so. Practically, carrying a weapon openly in a city
- setting will probably get you arrested, for "disturbing the peace" or
- "disorderly conduct" or whatever. Police have wide discretion to control
- aberrant or threatening behavior in public, and most people today feel
- that openly carrying a weapon around town is threatening in and of itself.
- Carrying a weapon openly will certainly get you far more attention than
- you want, and of a highly negative sort, even if you avoid official
- displeasure.
-
- Concealed carry is the only practical alternative if you feel a need to
- be armed in public. We are very fortunate to live in a state that
- recognizes our right to carry concealed weapons and makes legal provision
- for it. In many parts of this country concealed carry permits are available
- only to the wealthy and the well-connected.
