  16. Dean Rubine's 2D online gesture recognition papers and software are
  17. available via anonymous FTP from emsworth.andrew.cmu.edu (128.2.30.62)
  18. in the "gestures" directory. Five PostScript files and a README of the
  19. paper "Specifying Gestures by Example" from SIGGRAPH 91 is in
  20. "gestures/papers".

  22. Also, the entire directory, including the paper, the gesture
  23. recognizer, some NeXT code with what I assume is a GUI interface of
  24. some sort, and general recognition software is in the compressed tar
  25. file

  29. David Sturman's thesis "Whole-Hand Input", which extends Rubine's 2D
  30. gesture recognition approach to 3D, is now available on ftp. Here is a
  31. message he sent to me about it:

  33.  I have put a copy of my thesis on media-lab for anonymous ftp.
  34.  So far, I have only installed a .dvi file which can be converted to
  35.  a Postscript file with dvips.  The dvi file is a lot smaller than the
  36.  Postscript file and you can control which pages you want printed out.
  37.  Again for size reasons, the available version is without the
  38.  illustrations.  In the future I will make a more complete version
  39.  available.

  41.  Interested parties should anonymous ftp to media-lab.media.mit.edu and cd
  42.  to tmp/djs/WholeHandInput.  They should read the README file before trying
  43.  to print the thesis.
