- This is the first occasion on which I have
- consciously crossposted, but this topic is
- serendipitous (and gratuitous) in sci.physics,
- and has long been of interest to me. I'd love
- to see the answer (the old OED is a tainted
- source on this topic, and I have not seen the
- new one) without having to read those other
- groups. In the foreknowledge that it is easier
- to obtain forgiveness than permission, then...

- the gullible marks from whom they extract (or
- yank) their ill-gotten tribute. Yankees (and
- they proliferate here in Canada, too) continue
- to pay their taxes without complaint for fear
- the Yankers will deem them illiberal otherwise,
- the greatest sin of our age.
