- The basic idea, I believe, was to force aircraft to fly higher in
- order to avoid the cables. This would then decrease the accuracy of
- the bombing. I have seen photos of twin balloons with a cable strung
- horizontally between them, and a "net" of cable descending from this
- for a small distance.

- Effectiveness? Well they seem to have been popular enough, but I have
- no real data.
