- My experience on a VLCD for 5 months supports what Steve has mentioned--if
- you are under 600 calories or so, you pretty much go into ketosis regardless
- of your carbo intake. The HMR program uses a formula that provides
- 50g of protein and 75g of carbohydrates a day. I thought that much carbo
- would keep me out of ketosis and starving all day. Surprisingly (to me),
- there was no hunger after the first week or so. I didn't bother to check
- myself, but I am assuming I was in ketosis.
