  19. BCG has generally seemed to be less effective in trials in North America
  20. than in other parts of the world.  It is not clear (at least to me)
  21. whether this has to do with varying strains of Tb or simply with
  22. the lower prevalence of Tb in NA.  I believe there have been U.S.
  23. trials of BCG showing no benefit as compared to placebo, but I have
  24. no idea what the power of those studies was.
