  10. I struck the mother load when I asked for a formula to convert World
  11. War II dollars to dollars of the 1990s, allowing for inflation.  I
  12. see it's not so easy as I thought.

  14. But I received a lot of suggestions, and will follow them up in the
  15. next week or two.  A few of you asked me to post what I decide to do,
  16. and I shall.

  18. A few others asked me to be more specific.  Ok.  A certain torpedo cost
  19. $10,000 in 1943.  A $100 reward was offered by the Navy to anyone who
  20. would find lost torpedoes.  Mobilizing scientists (through OSRD) in
  21. 1941 cost $500 million.  And $25,000 was allocated to develop a certain
  22. torpedo "trigger."  I would like to be able to add a note:  "an amount
  23. equal to $____ in 1993 dollars."
