  28.    Ahem.   There IS an entity 'waving'.  That entity is called the electromagnetic
  29. field.  The whole point of identifying light as a wave is showing that there
  30. is a "thing" (albeit a strange thing, especially when you consider quantization)
  31. called the EM field that can store energy, propogate information, and... well,
  32. act like a 'thing'.

  34.    The problem lies with considering the vacuum to be nothing.  The fabric of
  35. space-time is NOT nothing.
