- Who's claim that the earth has warmed up several degrees? The
- instrumental record shows warming of about 1C over the last one
- hundred years. However, this warming has not been a simple linear
- one: there was warming until the 1930s, then cooling until 1970 or so,
- followed by further warming. The overall increase of 1C is consistent
- with the increase in CO2, but could also be due to a number of other
- factors, so very few people actually state that the cause of the
- warming is CO2.

- trends that I am talking about, with significant local variations on
- the theme to be expected.
