- A rheostat will get mighty warm dimming a light. Not a smart way to go.
- If you want to follow that sort of a path, I would try a varyable voltage
- transformer. At least that will be a bit efficent. You may also want to
- try converting the output of your lamp dimmer to DC (with 4 diodes) and
- adding a filter so the higher frequency noise going to the lamp is smootheed
- out.
