- My colleagues and I are interested in preparing carbon-14 labeled
- chloral (trichloroacetaldehyde) and/or the hydrate thereof. We seek
- a procedure for the preparation of pure material with a specific
- activity of approx. 50 mCi/mmole for metabolic studies. Unfortunately,
- our technical library is somewhat lacking in appropriate chemical
- literature.
-
- The position of the radiolabel is not critical, though it is preferable
- to have it in the C-2 position.
-
- Ah...and if we can do it without having to use chlorine gas, it would
- be nice! :)
-
- Should anyone have a workable procedure for the synthesis of chloral, I
- would be very happy to hear it. Many thanks in advance!
