- In 1981 the Biospheric Incorporated, an environmental and health sciences'
- firm in Rockville (Maryland), got a patent for "left-handed" sugars (s. [2]).
- This product, named "Lev-O-Cal", is sweet as sugar, but have no calories,
- because the organism -microorganisms (no caries !) and humans- can't
- utilize this form of chemical energy.
