  14. I wonder if anyone can assist me with a mathematical astronomy problem.
  15. I've looked through all the books I have access to, and can find no
  16. mention of this problem.

  18. Basically, I'm looking for an equation giving the approximate visual
  19. magnitude of the moon as a function of its phase and distance.

  21. Sounds like a simple problem, but I suspect it's not.  Any advice would be
