- I'll second the notion that the tank MUST be set up on a flat surface. Not only
- may a seal fail down the road but one of the glass panes may crack (typically
- the bottom one) and then you'll be up a creek. As a matter of fact someone at
- work recently had the bottom pane of their tank crack. My first question was
- whether the tank was set up on a flat surface. The answer was no. I always
- place a layer of styrofoam between the tank and whatever it's sitting on just
- to make sure. The styrofoam will allow the tank to self level itself to a
- degree. It's cheap insurance to avoid getting 50 gallons of salt water in the
- living room carpet.
