  14. Several RTCA activities are underway.  First, they have published the "RTCA Taskforce 
  15. Report on Global Navigation Satellite System Transition and Implementation 
  16. Strategy", now available for sale.  Second, Special committee-169, Aeronautical 
  17. DataLink Applications, is looking at various applications and operational modes as you 
  18. describe, which may be influenced by the early need for a DGPS data channel.

  20. Also the FAA is in the process of defining the Aeronautical Telecommunications 
  21. Network (ATN) which is being worked by MITRE.  ATN concept proposes using the 
  22. ISO/OSI protocols.
