- As some may remember, I am (still) in the process of building
- a 3-phase converter. I've finally gotten to the point where
- everything is in a metal box and wired together, but when I
- try kick starting the rotor moter's spindle up to speed and hitting
- the (single-phase) power, the rotor locks and just humms.
-
- I know this motor is good because it was tested when I bought it.
- COuld I not have enough capacitance in the circuit?? Right now I
- have 24 mfd for a 15 HP rotor. Should the capacitance be in the
- circuit upstream or downstream from the motor, or doesn't it matter?
-
- Thanks for any help.
