- Your concern is well understood, you might want to keep in mind that
- certain sorts of wood themselves aren't real good for ingestion,
- however, it would probably take quite a bit of gnawing to get much
- off a block of hardwood.

- As a suggestion (ie, I haven't tried this, so good luck), you might
- try sealing the finished colored project with something like a
- salad bowl finish (I sure hope they aren't making those toxic to
- any real degree). That sort of finish may help increase the
- colorfastness, although not the drying time. Another thought you
- might try is to actually take a salad bowl finish and color a
- small quantity of it and then apply that to the project. With any
- luck it would then dry at about the same speed as the salad bowl
- finish - I'm not sure you could maintain the briliancy of the
- coloring agent applied directly to the wood however. Anyway that's
