  13. Someone posted a couple of weeks ago requesting positive experiences with
  14. Hood River Memorial Hospital.  I have been very busy and not had a chance
  15. to respond, but the boss is out this week so....

  17. I paid an unscheduled visit last summer when I broke my ankle.  I guess
  18. I've been pretty fortunate 'cause this was my first hospital/surgery
  19. experience (aside from the standard ER, stitches, etc.)  The staff
  20. at HR Memorial were great, and it was, despite the circumstances, a 
  21. good experience.  The Orthopedist who did the surgery (2 screws) was 
  22. Dr. Durkan.  I'm very happy with the work he did.  My ankle is 
  23. completely back to full strength.. and in fact, it's pretty difficult to see 
  24. a scar from the surgery... which has a downside in that, as one of our 
  25. net.gods says, "chicks dig scars".  Dr. Durkan is also an avid sailor --
  26. he has a waterproof pager and had to be paged off the water to see me -- 
  27. apologize again to him from me -- it was a 3.5 day.  (Fortunately it was
  28. about 7:30pm when he got the page for those who were about to flame ;)

  30. I have to say that the best part of the whole hospital stay was that 
  31. little morphine dispenser that they hook you up to after surgery.  I'm
  32. thinking about getting a portable for office use.  Oh yea, while I'm at
  33. it -- the first hospital I went to was (I think) While Salmon 'cause
  34. it was closest to Dougs.  They were also excellent, but didn't quite have
  35. staff/facilities/experience to do the job so they sent me to HRM/Dr. Durkan.
