- Control-S is a UNI-DIRECTIONAL command port. That is why devices like the
- SLV-R5 have a Control-S IN and a Control-S OUT port. Control-S IN will
- accept all the commands that your remote sends. The problem is that it won't
- give you any feedback on the status of the unit.
-
- Control-L is a BI-DIRECTIONAL command jack. That is why you only see one LANC
- jack on any device. The Control-L jack will at a minimum accept all the
- commands on your remote. It will also feedback status information like
- H:MM:SS.
-
- Will your SLV-696 and TR101 serve as a basic editing system? Yes and No. No
- you can't plug a Control-S port into as Control-L jack. Yes if you buy
- something like a RM-E/80/100/300/700 editor and the SLV-696 has a Control-S IN
- port. You can then play from the TR-101 and record on the SLV-696. With the
- RM-E300 doing manual non-assemble edits you should get about +/-3 frames of
- accuracy.
