- OOPS. You're absolutely right. Where I got this
- (mis)information was from my local cable company, after I spent
- $3000 putting together a A/V Receiver, front, center, surround
- speakers, and a new JVC Hi-Fi VCR, I was quite pissed to find
- out that Dolby Surround didn't come in. (Pre-recorded videos &
- Laserdiscs worked perfectly.) What was strange was the fact
- that MTS Stereo came in okay, and as someone else said, if MTS
- comes in fine, then Dolby Surround should be able to come in
- properly. I phoned my cable company, and they told me that "The
- bandwidth of coaxial cable isn't wide enough to support Dolby
- Surround, just MTS Stereo." Of course, I foolishly took this as
- gospel, and applied it to the other netter's situation. Soon
- after that conversation, I purchased a Dish and never worried
- about it again. (The Dolby Surround was only a small part of the
- real reason for the dish, I hate local TV in Calgary, the picture
- quality sucks, the sound is weak, and the selection is poor.)
-
- Oh well, thanks for enlightening me..
