-
- The Dolby Surround Signal is just the rear channel recorded with on the left
- channel in phase and on the right channel 180 degrees out of phase. Both of
- these signals are attenuated by 6dB during recording, and during play-back,
- they are amplified back to their original levels.
-
- So, if a cable can handle stereo, it can also handle the Dolby Surround signals
- as well. The problem could be that there is a great deal of noise on the audio
- signal which could make it difficult to determine what component of the right
- channel is equal to the left channel with a 180 degree phase shift. Add to
- that some extra noise and signal degradation from your VCR and this might (a
- very big might) cause problems with play-back of a Dolby Encoded tape.
-
- I guess the other obviousy question is.... Did you record/playback in stereo? :->
-
