  30. First time on this DL so forgive me if this has been hashed out recently but
  31. I'm in the market for a Hi Band 8mm camera and have been looking at the Sony
  32. CCD-TR81, and those in its price range and capability.  I have a price of
  33. $999.00 at the Stereo Shop here in Rochester NY.  There is available a lifetime
  34. warranty (labor free, parts $99.00 extra) which I am tempted to go for having
  35. just seen my old RCA VHS machine go south with an estimated repair cost nearly
  36. as much as the cost of a new one.

  38. I have seen ads for mailorder houses for the Sony TR81 for around 750 bux.  I
  39. am told that most of these are grey market stuff and that I should steer clear
  40. of them based on the old premise that "if it's too good to be true, it probably
  41. is".
  42. I can wait a while before making the purchase and am tempted to do so to see if
  43. the price drops when the newer model comes out (I understand that the 81 has
  44. been around for a year or more). Does anyone have info on other "best prices"
  45. or info pertaining to the newer model of this Sony machine?  I hear that the
  46. TR101 has better performance than the 81 but you have to buy the image
  47. stabilization feature along with it and the price hike is somewhere around 300
  48. bux.
