- But its chroma resolution still stinks (as it does in all consumer
- tape formats). That's why Betacam with its 330 lines of resolution looks
- better than ED-Beta with its 500 lines of resolution. I always wondered
- why resolution of the chrominance wasn't fixed when manufacturers introduced
- new, already incompatible, "super" formats like Hi8, ED-Beta and S-VHS.
- Should have gone all the way and done it right. Thank goodness digital
- HDTV is on the horizon and the big difference that exists between consumer
- and professional video will disappear just like it did in the world of audio
- with its CD and DAT.
